CAPU Review System

The CAPU Framework

We've pioneered the CAPU Ratings framework to help you evaluate technologies for your business. The CAPU Framework is designed to represent four key categorical areas of necessity for any technology tool: Capability, Analytics, Profitability, and Usability.

CAPU Reviews

A CAPU Review evaluates one technology product against a known list of needs and wants. The technology isn't being tested against is competitors, but rather for alignment with known business requirements.

CAPU Comparisons

CAPU Comparisons are conducted to pit two or more technologies against each other with the purpose of identifying the superior technology for a task or application. In this head-to-head usage, the best score wins.

CAPU Scoring

When conducting a CAPU Review or CAPU Comparison, a numerical score of 0 (lowest) to 10 (highest) is provided for each category (Capability, Analytics, Profitability, Usability) based on the perceived alignment of the tool with your known needs. This makes CAPU a subjective alignment tool even though it can be used more generically—especially in CAPU Comparisons—to rate a tool relative to the maximum feature set among competitors.

CAPU Grading

An optional part of the CAPU Review process is to assign an overall letter grade in the same way that letter grades are assigned in education. The letter grading is particularly helpful in CAPU Comparisons where technologies are being evaluated for their overall correctness of fit against one or more competitors. To calculate the letter grade, the total earned points (net) are divided by the total possible points (gross). Since any CAPU score has a maximum of 40 points (10 for each category), the grades are as follows:
